  2.                      BACKUP EASIER THAN EVER
  3. Loveland, CO--April 20, 1993--Colorado Memory Systems, Inc., the
  4. leading supplier of quarter-inch minicartridge (QIC) backup
  5. systems, today announced the easiest-to-use- backup software yet
  6. for Windows.  Called Colorado Backup for Windows, it features "drag
  7. & drop" operation, backup in background while other applications
  8. are running, macro recording, disk grooming and One-Step utility
  9. icons, along with numerous other features to speed and simplify
  10. backup.

  12. Rick Turley, Vice President of Marketing for Colorado Memory
  13. Systems pointed out that the new backup software is a
  14. state-of-the-art Windows application.  Turley said, "With more and
  15. more users opting for the Windows environment, we wanted to provide
  16. a backup solution for Jumbo that is not only fully Windows
  17. compatible, but one that also simplifies backup by  making optimal
  18. use of the power and simplicity of the graphical user interface."

  20. With Colorado Backup for Windows, fast backup operations can be
  21. initiated simply by dragging a hard-disk icon and drop it on a tape
  22. icon.  In fact, most operations begin with a simple "drag & drop." 
  23. Once backup is initiated, the user can return to other applications
  24. while backup is performed in the background.

  26. To supplement its intuitive operation and minimize dependence on
  27. manuals, Colorado Backup for Windows has an on-screen Quick-Start
  28. reference that gives users step-by-step instructions for performing
  29. various backup and utility functions.  Full Windows help is also
  30. provided.

  32. An easy-to-use macro recorder also makes it simple for users to
  33. create automated backup routines.  These can then be initiated via
  34. drag & drop, or, automatically, through the scheduler for
  35. unattended backup at any time.  To make things even easier, some
  36. pre-recorded macros come with the software.

  38. One-Step icons are provided for tape utility functions such as
  39. format, erase,  unerase,  rename and retension tape, along with run
  40. macro and macro scheduling, to further  simplify operation.  A tape
  41. icon is simply dragged and dropped on the appropriate One-Step icon
  42. to initiate the function.  A new Move function is also provided,
  43. allowing users to groom disks and free valuable space by moving
  44. seldom used programs and files to an archival tape.

  46. Other features include fast and reliable data compression, flexible
  47. file tagging, restore  redirection, tape linking, display of
  48. operation statistics, including a backup  "speedometer," and
  49. numerous user selectable options for backup and restore modes.  
  50. Colorado Backup for Windows is QIC-40 and QIC-80 compatible,
  51. assuring data  interchange and transportability.  The software is
  52. also compatible with popular peer-to- peer networks.

  54. Colorado Backup for Windows is a $59 option for either Jumbo 120 or
  55. Jumbo 250 drives  and will be available in May.   Versions that
  56. support Trakker and PowerTape drives will  be available later this
  57. year.
